Hello! I guess I'm kicking off the train of posts with this introduction to the only incoming member of the Class of 2019: April from Lumberjanes!
The canon, or Miss Quinzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet's Camp for Hardcore Lady Types
Every summer, when school is just a distant memory and each day is hotter and stickier than the day before, somewhere deep in the wilderness, a muscular, tattooed woman named Rosie raises a flag on a pole and nails a sign to the sprawling open gates. The first day of camp is approaching, and soon Miss Quinzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet's Camp for Hardcore Lady Types will be packed full of outdoorsy young women who are ready to experience nature and adventure and honor the camp motto: Friendship to the max!
Only it's not your typical camp, because at Miss Q. T. P. Thistle Crumpet's, there are monster invasions on the regular and a whole mess of adventures.
Roanoke Cabin gets up to more antics than any other, probably because of the sheer rowdiness of the band of misfits that inhabits it. There's Jo, the braniac leader of the gang; Mal, the snarky worrywart who makes the plans; Molly, the soft-hearted archer and champion of word puzzles; Ripley, the scrawny cloudcuckoolander who enjoys being launched like a fastball at oncoming enemies; and April, the girly one and the pint-sized powerhouse of the gang. The gang is kept (relatively) safe by their dorky, overworked counselor, Jen, and occasionally even further endangered by Rosie, the camp director, whose interpretation of liability is more liberal than most.
The girls are best friends, and as Lumberjane Scouts, they dedicate their hearts to the following pledge:

From left: Jo, April, Ripley, Molly, Mal
It is obviously super cute. Their commitment to the Lumberjane values takes them on lots and lots of adventures, where the name of the game is being their best selves and putting each other above everything else, because friendship, obviously.

In the first sixteen issues, the plucky adventurers have:
The series has popped up in the news lately because apparently a movie deal is in the works, despite the fact that it is a weetiny indie series that has no connection to anything that rhymes with Larvel or Bee Gee. It also won two Eisner awards at SDCC this year and has often been praised for its diversity (four of the six leads are women of color, at least two or three of the six are LGBT, and obviously there's the whole women thing).
*If you are interested in getting your hands on this canon, please do shoot me an email at bcuzfriendship (at) gmail (dot) com and I will direct you to safe downloads of every issue that is out already, because everyone needs this in their lives.
The girl, or Who The Heck Is That Tiny Ginger Who Can Lift Trees And Dent Cars?
No team of adventurers is complete without the muscle, and that's April (pictured far right). She looks like she's the muscle, doesn't she?

No? Well, in addition to being the smallest and most unintimidating member of the group, April is the heavy hitter. Her tiny frame doesn't stop her from being able to out-arm-wrestle a stone gargoyle or carry seven huge suitcases on one arm with ease.

Spoiler: she's got it.
But let's take a step back because of course she's not just the muscle. Powers aside, here's the skinny on April, which is totally cribbed from my app and I'm sorry/not sorry.
April has a big mouth and a big heart. She loves to talk and tell stories and she has a flair for the dramatic, often getting intense about her passions and pet projects. She's almost stupid-brave (read: very nearly fearless) and up for adventure, even to the point of being a little careless when there's danger afoot. And she's naturally playful, silly and friendly, with a passion for punning and no hesitation about hamming up a good joke.
April always appears bubbly and extroverted and a little silly; she's always up for making new friends and she's really good at it. In Fandom, her natural friendliness and kindness will definitely shine through when she meets people for the first time. April's the kind of person who should be able to be nice to anyone, unless of course they've done something to hurt one of her friends.
She is an optimist, always going into everything with a sunny attitude and a totally sincere openness to seeing how things go. She rarely expects danger, but when it comes, she's ready to put her fists up to tackle it without hesitation. She's always ready to handle a situation however it needs to be handled, whether that involves punching things or taking notes in her diary.

That's not to say she's never in a bad mood, however; she's super competitive and can get intense about achieving her goals, and when she can't meet the standards she's set for herself, she gets pouty and whiny. Unless someone can put things into perspective for her, sometimes her competitive nature will just make her attitude worse and worse. She can go from super-bubbly-sweet to super-intense fighter in a blink of an eye.

This is what April looks like when she wants a merit badge.
April can also be kind of a spitfire when it comes to attacks on her friends, physical or verbal. She'll out-and-out yell at someone for being mean to any member of her crew, and she won't stand for bullying. April feels things super deeply and because of her high capacity for empathy, not to mention her intense, fierce personality, good luck getting away with hassling any of her friends on her watch. She's quick to befriend strangers, but it takes longer for her to trust someone the way she implicitly trusts her close friends; once she has that level of trust for you, you're under her protection.
Finally, the Lumberjanes moral code and general feelings about The Right Thing are really important to April. Even when she's sort of in over her head and dealing with monsters and gods and goddesses with ancient laws that April could never even try to understand, she holds the people she deals with to a high standard of kindness and goodwill. She's not here for sneaking around or doing things behind friends' backs no matter how much someone might think it's for the greater good, and she has no qualms about telling people off if she feels their behavior isn't morally okay.
And then there's the superstrength. She has that. I won't abuse it, but her natural instinct will be to use her strength when it is reasonable for her to do so, such as in a fight with a bad guy or to lift a car to save a baby, stuff like that. If you are in need of a super-strong buddy to get your character out of a jam, hit me up; chances are that April would love to help out. Conversely, if you would prefer that April not use her strength in a situation where it would make sense to do so, we can obviously talk and figure out a reason why she would refrain from punching/lifting/carrying/whathaveyou.
April's faceclaim will be Holland Roden, because petite gingers with super-soft features, le duh. To be perfectly accurate, please imagine a slightly younger Holland Roden with huge gold eyes. That's it.

The not-ginger who can't lift a thing

Me, pictured at SDCC with a hole in my beloved hoodie.
Hi, I'm Michelle and many of you know me, if I haven't faded from your memory on account of being so MIA over the past year. I'm now all graduated and on a regular person schedule so I'm hoping I'll have time to really engage with the game like I wasn't able to last year.
I live in Phoenix, which is on the special Arizona time zone that not everyone knows about (including me six months ago when I had my Skype interview for my current job!). The independent nation of Arizona doesn't do Daylight Savings, so it's Mountain Standard year-round. Right now, I'm on the same time that California is on – three hours behind Eastern Time and two hours behind Central, until we set the clocks back and the time difference is reduced by an hour.
I work for an internet company and spend my days selling ads to business owners. Because sales is a murderer of the human spirit, sometimes work wipes me out and decimates my ability to interact with other human beings for the rest of the day. But on the days when that doesn't happen, hopefully I'll be around to play!
Here are a few other facts about me!

I solemnly swear to do my best every day.
And in all that I do,
To be brave and strong,
To be truthful and compassionate,
To be interesting and interested,
To respect nature,
To pay attention and question the world around me,
To think of others first,
To always help and protect my friends,
["Then there's a line about god or whatever" – Jo's words]
And to make the world a better place
For Lumberjane scouts
And for everyone else.

In the first sixteen issues, the plucky adventurers have:
- Fought off murderous foxes
- Survived a river monster attack with only their canoes and a scrunchie
- Trekked through an Indiana Jones-style series of puzzles which included a Fibonacci Sequence hopscotch-or-die type deal and an anagram challenge, as you do
- Escaped hipster yeti
- Survived poison ivy and escaped from the possessed Scouting Lads from the boys' camp across the woods
- Fought off dinosaurs
- Won the campwide game of Capture the Flag
- Come between two bickering demigods who wanted to take over the world and inherit unlimited power, etc. etc.
- Battled giant lightning bugs
- Escaped a time-loopy Land of Lost Things
And Homoerotic Bonding, and - Won merit badges for their achievements and shared spirit of adventure

Here are a few other facts about me!
- I do not know how to drive, so getting around the desert by way of the bus system that time forgot is a lot of fun!
- I absolutely love TV and think summer is of the devil for that reason.
- I recently got my cartilage pierced and bled so much that the piercer went through about six paper towels when all was said and done.
- My office provides free breakfast, lunch, snacks and beer so I haven't bought groceries in five weeks.
